Here’s What Michelle Obama May Have Meant by “Do Something”

At the DNC, Michelle Obama implored us to do something. I thought it would have been helpful to have some specifics: many of us want to do something, many just need some clear direction. Focusing on the election, here are a few things I've come up with.

Your action:

  • Keeping pressing about Palestine. Kamala seems disinclined to take a different stance than Biden for the rest of their term, and or to take a different position if she's elected. Don't let up on the pressure for her to take a stand against genocide caused by US. Write to Kamala.

  • Join an organized effort in swing states: If you can, travel to swing states to with outreach & voter registration. If you can't travel, there's lots of organizing & support to offer from home. Indivisible, Common Power, SURJ, Swing Blue Alliance.

  • Volunteer for election or ballot box monitoring: Show up on November 5 at a ballot box near you, or make a day trip of it to an area of your state without volunteer witnesses. Scrutineers, U.S. Election Assistance Commission, Work Elections Project
