Figure Out *What You Do*

Here's a helpful framework I've used when I want evaluate what anti-oppression or liberatory actions I'm taking, or want to do more, or be more effective. Choose one oppression you feel most riled about, or spread a few interests across the four categories below. Remembers, actions can be big & loud or quiet & behind the scenes.

Establish a regular action in each area:

  • Personal: financially, physically, or emotionally support a specific marginalized person or family

  • Community: contribute time, labor, creativity, or funds to a local BIPOC-run mutual aid or grassroots organization

  • Institutional: step up, speak up, leverage your position, access, and privilege in institutions you're part of

  • Global: get educated about how U.S. interests are responsible for many global issues, to be able to share what you know with others

Organize a white affinity group or caucus at your workplace or among your people…and bring Martha in for deft facilitation
